The MG-42 was the premier lightweight belt fed machine gun for the Bundeswehr during WW2.  It stands for maschienengewehr-zweiundfünfzig.  It has an incredibly high rate of fire giving it the nickname of "Hitler's buzz saw."  It was the weapon used by the Germans in the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan where US soldiers were storming Omaha beach.

The RPD is a lightweight belt fed machine gun originally developed in Russia in the 1950's.  It has been in use by many communist forces up until the present time. It can be seen in many popular video games such as Rainbow Six and Call of Duty.  It uses its own proprietary 100 round belt stored in a removable drum.

UZI

The UZI submachine gun was designed by Major Uziel "Uzi" Gal in the late 1940s shortly after the establishment of the State of Israel. The Uzi has been exported to over 90 countries.  From the 1960s through the 1980s, more Uzi submachine guns were sold to more military, law enforcement and security markets than any other submachine gun ever made.

M249 SAW 

The M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon), formally written as Light Machine Gun, 5.56 mm, M249, is the US military's adaptation of the Belgian FN Minimi, a light machine gun manufactured by FN Herstal (FN).

The M249 SAW is manufactured in the United States by the subsidiary FN Manufacturing LLC, a company in Columbia, South Carolina (FN America), and is widely used in the U.S. Armed Forces. The weapon was introduced in 1984 after being judged most effective (compared to a number of candidate weapons) to address the lack of automatic firepower in small units. The M249 SAW provides infantry squads with a high rate of machine gun fire, combined with the accuracy and portability of a rifle.

Tommy Gun

TThe Thompson was widely adopted by the U.S. armed forces during World War II, and was also used extensively by other Allied troops during the war. Its main models were designated as the M1928A1, M1 and M1A1 during this time. More than 1.5 million Thompson submachine guns were produced during World War II.  It is the first weapon to be labelled and marketed as a "submachine gun."
